The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument is hard to miss - it is the only historical, educational monument that actually spans an interstate highway! Featured in the Jack Nicholson film "About Schmidt", the monument features a compelling display of the Platte River and the trails that led to the settlement of the American West.

A sportsman's dream. Cabela's is the world's foremost outfitter - and Kearney is home to the second retail location in the nation, with tens of thousands of items for outdoor enthusiasts. Even if you're not into camping or fishing, you'll thrill at the impressive trophy collections of wildlife.

 

Historic home.: Listed on the National Register of Historic Sites, the Frank House features Tiffany stained glass windows, hand-carved oak woodwork and tiled fireplaces.

Get wet! Island Oasis Water Park is over six acres of summertime fun. Four slides, two 60-foot speed slides, wave pool and lazy river. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

A natural attraction. The Hatings Museum of Natural and Cultural History has a stunning display of exhibits, from natural science and wildlife displays to pioneer history and Plains Indians artifacts and dioramas. The J.M. McDonald Planetarium inside the museum offers daily sky shows about galaxies, stars, and planets.

 

 

Outdoor Art The Cottonwood Prairie Festival, held in spacious Brickyard Park each June, is three days of live music, bronze sculpture, crafts, food and family fun for all.
