Tekamah Nebraska

Nebraska, an exciting destination place for leisure opportunities of every description. Located in the heartland of America, Nebraska offers urban excitement, rural tranquility, and of course, miles and miles of outdoor recreation.


 

Tekamah has a well-established park system comprised of six distinct parks: Memorial Park, Athletic Park, Folsom Park, Fireman's Park, South Park and Mini-Park. The parks and recreational areas offer a wide variety of passive and active recreational activities. Dedicated park maintenance has earned Tekamah the coveted TREE CITY award.

A mural of Lewis and Clark & The Corps of Discovery journey map is located on the wall of the VFW Hall at the intersection of US 75 and NE 32 in Tekamah, Nebraska, a town with a population of 1850 residents. The mural itself is over 1500 sq. feet. The map is the area from the Platte River North to the South Dakota border and stretching as far as western Nebraska or the panhandle area.

The Burt County Museum is located in Tekamah in the E.C. Houston House built in 1904. Mr. Houston, a prominent businessman, was the owner of the Houston Lumber Company.

The Museum was organized in 1967 and moved to its current home in 1985 after outgrowing its former site. In 1986 the Museum building was placed on the National Register of Historical Places.
Also on the Museum grounds, you can visit a one-room school house and a 1908 house.
Open year round on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 1-5 p.m. or by appointment for group tours. Admission is by donation.
